The Bawa Sutra and Sexual Orientation
Dr. Bawa: Welcome to the Friday episode of the Dr. Sex Fairy Podcast. I am Dr. Kanwal Bawa, America's favorite sex doctor, and I am here to transform your life. On Fridays, we discuss the Bawa Sutra, my interpretation of the ancient text, the Kama Sutra.
Dr. Bawa: I am a Cleveland Clinic-trained, board-certified physician. I live in the U.S., but was born and raised in New Delhi, India, and bring my East-meets-West upbringing and life to this podcast.
Dr. Bawa: Today I would like to talk about sexual orientation and sexual preference. The Kama Sutra was surprisingly ahead of its time. It mentions gays, lesbians, transvestites, and even polyamorous couples. Homosexuality is discussed in detail, as is the role of transvestite prostitutes in everyday life. In fact, transvestite prostitutes were present at weddings and religious ceremonies, as they symbolized good luck.
The Amish and Ancient References
Dr. Bawa: Episode 52 of the Dr. Sex Fairy Podcast, “Shocking Sex Secrets of the Amish,” was published earlier this week. As you can tell from the title, I discussed the shocking sex practices of the Amish, as well as many other incredible aspects of their life.
Dr. Bawa: I was joined by three ex-Amish individuals on this episode. They discussed how common sex with animals is within their community. While it is horrifying to us, the Kama Sutra mentions it as well. In fact, even carvings on ancient Indian temples represent this act.
Bestiality Around the World
Dr. Bawa: If you are thinking that the Amish of today and Indians of thousands of years ago are the only ones openly practicing bestiality, you are dead wrong. Modern-day Germany has bestiality brothels, or erotic zoos. In Colombia, young boys are having sex with donkeys. Don’t believe me? Watch the documentary Asses of the Caribbean.
Dr. Bawa: Sweden did not ban bestiality until 2013. And let’s not forget Denmark. Animal sex tourism is apparently quite the thing there. Only 76% of the population felt that these laws should be more strict. And that means that one out of every four Danish people appear to be okay with this.
Brazil, Penile Cancer, and Other Examples
Dr. Bawa: Let’s talk about Brazil. When you think about Brazil, you think about Gisele Bündchen and other beautiful women. You think about beaches. You don’t think about sex with animals.
Dr. Bawa: A study of 492 men between the ages of 18 and 80 that included men with penile cancer and those without found that 35% of them admitted to sex with animals. One hundred eighteen of the study participants had penile cancer, and 45% of these people admitted to sex with animals.
Dr. Bawa: Hungary is one of the biggest producers of porn that shows sex with animals. In fact, neither Hungary nor Romania have banned bestiality. Here is a fun fact: sex with animals is not illegal in every state in the U.S. And these, my friends, are just a few examples.
Dr. Bawa: What can I say? We live in a crazy, crazy world. And apparently, not much has changed in the thousands of years since the Kama Sutra. Until next time.
