[00:12] Introduction: Use It or Lose It

Host: Dr. Kanwal Bawa | Guests: Tiffany and Mia | Runtime: 35:30 | Published: February 21, 2022

Dr. Bawa: Welcome to another episode of Dr. Sex Fairy. I'm Dr. Kanwal Bawa, and I am here to transform your life. Today, we are discussing the very, very important topic of “Use It or Lose It.”

Mia: Uh-oh. There goes your vagina.

Dr. Bawa: That's right. And I have with me the Crazy Rich Neighbors. I love these women. They're local Boca gems, and of course, I had to drag them back on my show for yet another episode. Thank you for coming. I love you both.

Tiffany: We love you.

Mia: We are here anytime.

Tiffany: As the Vaginator.

Dr. Bawa: That's right. What is it?

Tiffany: No, the Vaginator.

Dr. Bawa: The Vaginator. Oh my God. There's a Terminator, and then there's me, people: the Vaginator.

Tiffany: Dun, dun, dun.

Mia: Oh my God. We're so happy to be back here with you again.

Dr. Bawa: Thank you for coming back. We have had some wonderful conversations over the last few episodes. We have talked about vaginas. We have talked about penises. We have talked about everything in between. We've talked about Boca and this and that and the other. And today, we are here to talk about “Use It or Lose It.”

Tiffany: Yeah, baby.

Dr. Bawa: That's right.

[01:22] Can the Clitoris Shrink?

Dr. Bawa: So, people, tell me: did you know that your clitoris can shrink with age?

Tiffany: Oh God. What else do we have to deal with?

Mia: That's the only thing that's shrinking on me, boo.

Dr. Bawa: Oh my gosh. Isn't that fun?

Tiffany: Seriously, that's a bad thing, right?

Mia: That's rude. What's killing me is, what's the percentage of women who orgasm from the clitoris versus internal penetration?

Dr. Bawa: Can I tell you something? Only 18.4% of women orgasm from penetrative sex alone.

Tiffany: That is so low.

Dr. Bawa: I know. Isn't that depressing?

Mia: Yes. Me either, but that is so low.

Dr. Bawa: It is low, but that's just how it is. And that's why it's so important that women realize the power of the clitoris and appreciate her.

Tiffany: And men too, though. They need to.

Dr. Bawa: They do need to understand. The problem is that very few women understand their own anatomy.

Mia: True.

Dr. Bawa: I always say, let's not blame the other sex for everything. I tell the men the same thing. You have to know your own body before you can expect someone else to know what to do with it.

Mia: Is there something generational about that? Do you find that younger women maybe have more awareness, or no?

Dr. Bawa: Yes and no. I think younger women are more likely to talk about it, but I don't know that younger women know any more about it than their mothers did.

Tiffany: We've made no progress.

Dr. Bawa: I doubt it. Not real progress.

Mia: But why couldn't the clitoris be internal and the G-spot be the little teeny-tiny thing on the end? Why were we designed this way?

Dr. Bawa: Let's go fight with God another time.

Tiffany: I know, right?

Dr. Bawa: But this is what it is. This is what we've got, and we've got to make the best of it.

Mia: Wouldn't it have been a great idea to swap it?

Tiffany: Yes. That makes a lot of sense.

Tiffany: Is the G-Spot Real?

Tiffany: Is there really such a thing as a G-spot?

Dr. Bawa: It's not really a proven thing.

Mia: Yes.

Dr. Bawa: You think you have one?

Mia: Yes.

Tiffany: I don't think I have one.

Mia: Boo, you do.

Tiffany: My clitoris is where it's at, baby.

Dr. Bawa: We all have our spot, whatever that spot is. They say you go in and up this much, and two fingers, this or that, whatever. And there are people who are actually doing shots into that area.

Mia: I would do it.

Dr. Bawa: They're trying to increase the size—or I guess the thickness—of the area.

Tiffany: To my point: put the clitoris inside.

Dr. Bawa: I know. Wouldn't that be nice?

Mia: That would be more efficient.

Dr. Bawa: But that's what it does, essentially. It makes it a little bit larger and an easier target to hit.

[03:52] What Happens When You Stop Having Sex?

Dr. Bawa: When you think about it, clitoral atrophy is a real thing. Why does it happen? The title of this episode is “Use It or Lose It.” Disuse is a major thing. If you're not having a lot of sex, your vagina doesn't know what to do with itself.

Tiffany: Can you define “a lot”?

Dr. Bawa: That depends on whether you're my patient or not. My patients have disproportionately more sex than everybody.

Mia: Because you perform magic.

Dr. Bawa: I do perform magic. Fairy dust.

Tiffany: I wish we had a sound effect for that.

Mia: We have to get you one, girl.

Mia: How Much Sex Is Enough?

Mia: How much sex should you be having to keep your tissue healthy? Once a week?

Dr. Bawa: I don't know that there is any absolute number for it. But as long as you're not going months and years without it. A lot of my patients are.

Tiffany: What exactly happens to the vagina when you don't have sex frequently? What if you have sex once a year, or you haven't had sex for a whole year? What happens?

Dr. Bawa: When you're having sex, think about it: there's some level of damage done, right?

Tiffany: Really?

Dr. Bawa: There's friction and this and that.

Mia: Well, she takes a pounding, sister.

Tiffany: And keeps on ticking.

Dr. Bawa: That's right. You're killing me, by the way. Have I said that already? I have, but I'm going to say it again. It's my show.

Dr. Bawa: When you think about it, there's microdamage to the tissue, but it's not a bad thing because the body then heals itself. There's a little collagen formed. There's a little this, a little that. It's okay. It's not a bad thing.

Dr. Bawa: But when your body isn't doing much of anything, there's not much lubrication happening. There's not much blood flow coming into the area. That tissue is going to just go, “Psst.”

Tiffany: Is it that the body redirects the energy to other problematic places?

Dr. Bawa: I don't know that the body does that. It just doesn't think it really needs that area very much.

Mia: So it takes any energy, extra blood flow or extra collagen and redirects it?

Dr. Bawa: It's not like you have extra collagen that it's redirecting. It's just that the area doesn't do its best job because it thinks it doesn't need to.

Dr. Bawa: Pregnancy, Menopause and Hormonal Changes

Dr. Bawa: Disuse is not the only problem. Hormones are also a problem. With women, our hormones are all over the place.

Dr. Bawa: First, we're having children and our hormones are crazy. Sometimes we're trying to have children and we're on hormones, so our hormones go crazy. Then we have them and our hormones go crazy. We're breastfeeding, and they go crazy. Then we're perimenopausal, and they go crazy. Menopausal—oh my God—they go crazy.

Dr. Bawa: Then you're postmenopausal. It's like a drought there. It's a desert. You have no estrogen, or very little estrogen. Now, even if you do have sex, you might risk tearing because your skin is thinner. It's a shit show for the vagina, really.

Tiffany: Damn.

[06:36] Estrogen, Vaginal Atrophy and Labial Changes

Mia: What are your thoughts on estrogen cream? I had a doctor give me estrogen cream for my vagina.

Dr. Bawa: It can be very helpful, but again, not everybody can take vaginal estrogen cream either.

Mia: Oh.

Dr. Bawa: If you can handle it and your doctor is monitoring you closely, it can absolutely be a very good adjunct to what I do.

Dr. Bawa: But I think that “use it or lose it”—I'm losing my mind here. Try saying that five times in a row.

Tiffany: It's hard.

Dr. Bawa: Use it or lose it. Yes.

Dr. Bawa: It's not just your clitoris that's going downhill. It's also the interior vagina—the vaginal canal. Over time, even that takes a hit when it comes to quality, texture, sensation and everything else.

Dr. Bawa: And then your labia, ladies. Everybody's getting filler in the lips on their face, but don't forget your other lips.

Tiffany: Oh my gosh. You have to check out Dr. Bawa's website and these before-and-afters. I am getting that for Christmas. They're dramatic.

Mia: If there is not a better testament to what you do, I don't know what it could be, because those pictures tell a million stories.

Dr. Bawa: They do tell a million stories. I think that in so much of our lives, we just get used to mediocrity. This is how it is, so this is how it stays.

Dr. Bawa: I am supportive of both men and women. Nobody is the enemy. We're in this together, people. I am not the podcast where you come to hear men slammed or women slammed.

Tiffany: And men's stuff is sagging and hanging too.

Dr. Bawa: Yeah. I'm Dr. Sex Fairy. Trust me, they're struggling too. I'm taking care of a lot of penises—more than any hooker in Boca.

Mia: You're an artiste.

Tiffany: It's true. She really is.

Dr. Bawa: I am. God's work, baby.

Dr. Bawa: Seeing Patients Around Boca

Dr. Bawa: I was at the Mayor's Ball the other day.

Tiffany: Were any of them your patients?

Mia: Can you imagine? You're like, “There's my patient.”

Tiffany: Wink, wink.

Dr. Bawa: “How are you doing, Bob? How are you, honey? It looks like the night is starting out well. How's that equipment working out for you?”

Mia: The ladies seemed happy.

Dr. Bawa: Good stuff.

Dr. Bawa: Nobody is the enemy here. We're in this together. We have to help each other get to our ultimate pleasure, satisfaction and quality of life—whatever that means for us. I'm not here to assume what that means for either of you. It's what you decide it is.

Dr. Bawa: There are ways to do it. There are ways to fix it. And we don't need to be embarrassed to talk about these things.

Mia: If you're embarrassed, you stay in that situation—that mediocrity you just spoke about. You're stuck.

Dr. Bawa: You don't even realize what you're missing until you're on the other side. So many of my patients have that eureka moment.

Dr. Bawa: Initially, when I mention it to them, they have that deer-in-the-headlights look. Then their eyes get really big when they come back. They say, “You know...” And I'm like, “Ah, she gets it.”

Tiffany: That's going to be us, girl, in February.

Mia: Yes, boo. Happy Valentine's Day.

[09:36] Faking Orgasms and Difficult Conversations

Dr. Bawa: Atrophy happens. Let's talk about something simple. How many women do you think fake orgasms?

Tiffany: Three out of four. Too soon?

Mia: At least 50%.

Dr. Bawa: Eighty percent.

Tiffany: That's even more than three out of four.

Dr. Bawa: Isn't that sad, though?

Mia: Shit, it is.

Dr. Bawa: We're having pretty crappy sex if we're faking it 80% of the time.

Tiffany: My gosh. Who is that helping?

Mia: Nobody.

Tiffany: The dude.

Dr. Bawa: No. You're not even helping him because you're giving him a false sense of comfort and satisfaction.

Mia: And if you're digging it, you're going to want to do it more.

Dr. Bawa: Don't you want him to do it differently so that you really are orgasmic?

Tiffany: That is true.

Dr. Bawa: By faking it, you're digging your own grave. Now he thinks whatever crap he's doing is working.

Mia: You're absolutely right.

Dr. Bawa: Don't fake it.

Tiffany: Oh my gosh. Don't fake it.

Dr. Bawa: These are difficult conversations. These are uncomfortable conversations, but they are critical conversations. That's why the Dr. Sex Fairy Podcast came to be, because nobody else is having these conversations.

Tiffany: I love it. This is like the modern-day Dr. Ruth, but with a real medical doctor who has real answers.

Mia: With a real fairy wand and stuff that really works.

Tiffany: Exactly. Dr. Ruth is all cute because she's spunky and has an accent, but you actually have things that we can improve on.

[10:49] Is It Ever Too Late for Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Mia: I have a question. Is there ever a time, an age or a condition where it's just too late to help vaginal atrophy? Too much has happened and it's just too far gone?

Dr. Bawa: I always think that as long as you have a heart that's beating, you have a vagina that can be helped.

Tiffany: I like that.

Dr. Bawa: Why is it that an 80-year-old woman shouldn't have sex? Does she not have feelings? Does she not have desires?

Mia: I agree, darling.

Mia: Sex in Retirement Communities

Tiffany: That leads us to a second question. On the Crazy Rich Neighbors Podcast, we always cover the shenanigans that happen in South Florida. In these retirement homes with octogenarians, they're having a lot of sex.

Mia: They're having sex.

Tiffany: They have high levels of STDs. Do you know what the STD levels are like in those places?

Mia: Syphilis is back, baby.

Tiffany: What happens after 70 that makes these people want to freewheel? The energy is flowing and the sexual energy is flowing. Why are they having so much sex in their 70s and 80s?

Dr. Bawa: Viagra.

Tiffany: Oh.

Dr. Bawa: Viagra changed things.

Mia: Oh my God.

Mia: Viagra, Cialis and Sexual-Medicine Emergencies

Dr. Bawa: The problem is that Viagra is a Band-Aid. Viagra is a medicine that was discovered for blood pressure, and it drops your blood pressure. But hey, side effect: it makes your penis hard. Okay, then.

Tiffany: It's dangerous.

Dr. Bawa: It vasodilates. The issue is that when Viagra came onto the market, it was a game changer. But Viagra has a lot of side effects.

Dr. Bawa: It can drop your pressure, as I mentioned. It can also give you an erection that simply does not go away. That's another topic for another day.

Tiffany: Can I just say something as we warn people about Viagra and Cialis? I had two family members who had heart problems, were on heart medication, took Viagra and died.

Dr. Bawa: Yes.

Tiffany: Not one. Two.

Dr. Bawa: Do you know that the reason I became Dr. Sex Fairy is that I am a board-certified ER doctor, and I saw lives destroyed in the pursuit of good sex?

Mia: You never hear that.

Dr. Bawa: You don't. It broke my heart.

Dr. Bawa: Initially, I was surprised. I thought I was there for gunshot wounds, stab wounds, heart attacks and everything else, but I was dealing with a lot of sexual issues.

Dr. Bawa: I was dealing with men who would literally come into the ER with a chief complaint of, “Can't have an erection.” Initially, I thought my coworkers were playing a gag on me. I looked around to see who was giggling. Nobody was.

Dr. Bawa: Then I realized this was a real problem. Once, you may think, “Oh my God, that person is crazy.” But when it happens enough times, you realize that maybe there is an issue nobody is addressing.

Dr. Bawa: The Long-Term Value of Sexual Wellness

Mia: How rewarding is it for you? To plug a gunshot wound or save a life, I would think that's very rewarding. But this has long-term effects. This can improve quality of life.

Tiffany: It can improve your marriage.

Dr. Bawa: Absolutely.

Tiffany: Improve your longevity and your outlook on life.

Dr. Bawa: Yes. Good sex equals a great life. Let's not kid ourselves.

Mia: Why are we so sexual? What is our problem?

Dr. Bawa: That's how we're built, my friend. We're built to have good sex.

Tiffany: I could be a little more sexual.

Dr. Bawa: Pleasure is a good thing. Pleasure is a great thing. Pleasure helps your blood pressure be what it needs to be. Pleasure helps release feel-good chemicals from your brain. It's a good thing. It's a win-win situation.

Mia: It's good exercise.

Dr. Bawa: Sex is great exercise. It helps prime your vagina and prime your penis. Use it or lose it.

[14:40] Use It or Lose It Applies to Men Too

Mia: When you're using it more, is it going to function better? For men, if they have natural erections more often, does that help them continue to have erections moving forward? Is it a use-it-or-lose-it scenario for them as well?

Dr. Bawa: Penises will shrink over time too.

Tiffany: Oh no.

Dr. Bawa: It's not just the clitoris that's shrinking. A penis will shrink as well. It's the same idea. Like I always say, the skin doesn't know where it is. The organ doesn't know where it is. It's going to do its thing.

Dr. Bawa: The more sex you have, the better sex you'll have. Studies prove it. People who are more active are usually enjoying it more.

Dr. Bawa: Statistically, married couples are usually having the most satisfying sex, probably because it's a relationship that's more comfortable. You feel like you can be yourself. You're not worried about the guy bailing on you at the end of the night, STDs and this and that—at least in an ideal world.

Mia: I hope not.

Dr. Bawa: Married sex is usually the best sex.

Tiffany: Interesting.

Dr. Bawa: I'm not here to preach marriage. I'm just saying that it's a deeper connection.

Mia: The kundalini.

Dr. Bawa: The connection really makes a difference. Being able to let go makes a difference.

[15:54] Clitoral Size and the O-Shot

Dr. Bawa: When it comes to clitoral size, an average clitoris can be anywhere from 0.2 to 2.5 centimeters, and the average is 0.8 centimeters.

Dr. Bawa: Size matters, and not just for men. The bigger your clitoris, the more area there is for him or her to stimulate.

Tiffany: That makes sense.

Dr. Bawa: And when you have a toy out, you have more area to work with.

Dr. Bawa: When it shrinks, what do you do? You come to me. That's where the O-Shot comes in, for instance.

Dr. Bawa: I take your blood, spin it down into platelet-rich plasma and convert it into fibrin matrix. I do a stronger version of PRP, and then I put it into the clitoris painlessly.

Mia: Really?

Dr. Bawa: Yes, painlessly. I promise.

Tiffany: All right.

Dr. Bawa: Because I'm awesome, sister. That's why.

Mia: We believe you, girl.

Tiffany: You go first and let me know.

Mia: I'm not doing that one first.

Dr. Bawa: You can come together. We'll do hers and hers.

Tiffany: She's going first.

Tiffany: PRP Safety and Sterility

Mia: Can I ask a question? When we're talking about sexual organs, how do you keep your practice very clean and safe? Whenever I hear about vampire facials or PRP, I think, what if somebody else's—

Dr. Bawa: It's a very good question. My brother actually said to me, “I don't know that you should do vampire facials.” He lives in Australia and read something online. He said, “It's causing AIDS and hepatitis C.”

Dr. Bawa: I said, “No, no, no. Vampire facials aren't causing it. Bad clinics are.”

Dr. Bawa: It's when you go to these med spas and all these practices—or they're not even practices. They're just things in the mall or whatever. Everybody with a sign can claim to be doing a vampire facial, yet how many of them are really certified in it? They're not.

Dr. Bawa: I don't think the procedure is the problem. I think the provider is the problem.

Dr. Bawa: In my practice, for instance, we talked about the CO2 laser in one of our episodes. The probe is disposable. We throw it out. We're not going to use somebody else's probe on you. That's disgusting.

Dr. Bawa: Once we're done microneedling your face, we're throwing that cartridge out. We're not reusing it on you or on anybody else. That's disgusting.

Tiffany: Totally.

Dr. Bawa: That's where the problem is. When you get out of a chair, even if you only had a consultation and sat in the chair—we never even did a procedure on you—we're still spraying that sucker down and wiping it like it's going out of style.

Mia: What if you get somebody else's blood platelets?

Dr. Bawa: You don't in my office.

Mia: But it could happen elsewhere.

Dr. Bawa: Elsewhere, yes, but not in my office because we're very, very careful.

Dr. Bawa: We're also more of a concierge practice. That doesn't mean we have only one patient in the office at a time, but we're very particular about how we do everything. We take care of one patient at a time.

[18:36] Consultation, the O-Shot and the G-Spot

Mia: If somebody wants to come in for an O-Shot, do they need to have a consultation first? Or if they call and say, “Hey, I'd like to have that done,” can they come in and have the procedure?

Dr. Bawa: A lot of my patients have already seen me on YouTube. They've seen 10, 15 or 20 videos. They've been on my website and talked to friends who have been to me. Very often, they already have some sense of what it is.

Dr. Bawa: Honestly, an O-Shot is something that's great for everybody. I struggle to think of somebody who would not benefit from it. It's not like I ever have to turn anybody away from it. When they come in, as long as we have time, we can do it the same day.

Dr. Bawa: Where Is the G-Spot Injected?

Tiffany: How do you identify the G-spot for the O-Shot?

Dr. Bawa: You don't do the G-spot O-Shot. The O-Shot goes into the clitoris.

Tiffany: Right. Oh.

Dr. Bawa: The orgasm shot goes into the clitoris.

Mia: Is there one for the inside?

Dr. Bawa: There is.

Mia: What's that called?

Dr. Bawa: We do it at the same time. It's part of the O-Shot.

Tiffany: It's like a twofer.

Dr. Bawa: It's a twofer. In the anterior vaginal wall, I will inject there as well.

Mia: I swear to God, there is a G-spot up there. There is one.

Dr. Bawa: I believe you.

Tiffany: I don't.

Dr. Bawa: Some women have more sensitivity there. There's absolutely no denying it.

Tiffany: Do you poke around and find out, or do you shoot in the general vicinity of the wall?

Dr. Bawa: I know where to shoot. I don't go up and behind. I go right in the middle.

Tiffany: Okay. I don't think I need that. I would do the O-Shot in my clitoris. I'm not G-spot sensitive.

Dr. Bawa: But I do inject it inside the vaginal canal too. I absolutely do.

Tiffany: Okay.

Dr. Bawa: The focus of the O-Shot is the clitoris. That sister is the seat of the female orgasm.

Tiffany: I did not know that.

Tiffany: How Many Nerve Endings Does the Clitoris Have?

Dr. Bawa: Let me do another pop quiz. Just spit out a number. How many nerve endings do you think a clitoris has?

Tiffany: Nine million.

Dr. Bawa: Come on. Get serious.

Mia: Ninety.

Dr. Bawa: Your turn.

Tiffany: Five hundred.

Dr. Bawa: Eight thousand.

Tiffany: What?

Mia: Eight thousand? Wow.

Dr. Bawa: God didn't put 8,000 nerve endings in there for you not to have the most glorious orgasm.

Tiffany: Holy smokes. I'm afraid I might have a heart attack, child.

Mia: What's all the obsession with orgasming from doggy style? I don't do it that way. I don't understand it.

Dr. Bawa: They're faking it. I'm just saying, porn movies do what they do.

Tiffany: That's for men.

Dr. Bawa: For women, it's the clitoris.

Dr. Bawa: The clitoris is just a tiny little thing hiding under the hood. You've got to unhood it. You've got to lift the hood a little bit for the magic to happen.

Tiffany: Sure.

Dr. Bawa: She's small but mighty, boo.

Mia: That's right. Small but mighty indeed.

Mia: Can the O-Shot Make the Clitoris Bigger?

Dr. Bawa: Once you get the O-Shot, it makes the clitoris just a little bit bigger. You don't have a golf ball between your legs, but it's just a little bigger.

Tiffany: But if she's enhanced and a little bigger, do your clothes maybe get a little—

Dr. Bawa: Well, hey, that's a good thing. That should heighten sensitivity.

Mia: Have some fun in the checkout line at the grocery store or at the gym.

Dr. Bawa: You're just happier. You'll be nicer to the salespeople in stores.

Dr. Bawa: The clitoris is a real issue. It shrinks. It could be as small as 0.2 centimeters or as large as 2.5 centimeters. It's not often that I see one that's 2.5 centimeters. They get small. They shrink.

Dr. Bawa: It's very important to remember that size matters. We have to worry about that.

Tiffany: And when you're not using it, it's going to shrink even more.

[22:07] Labial Rejuvenation Without Cutting

Tiffany: What can you do about the labia?

Dr. Bawa: The labia shrink too. It's not going to be the plump, juicy labia it was when you were 20.

Mia: But it's better than long and flappy.

Tiffany: Does the tissue shrink and then the skin just flops around?

Mia: Like a chicken gobbler.

Dr. Bawa: Pretty much.

Tiffany: Like bingo wings, but on your labia.

Dr. Bawa: That's funny. How come I never thought of that?

Dr. Bawa: Again, remember that there are nerve endings there too.

Mia: Really?

Dr. Bawa: Think about it. It's a very erogenous zone. It's all vaginal tissue. It's meant for pleasure and procreation—the two Ps. Let's not forget the pleasure part.

Dr. Bawa: Why Dr. Bawa Avoids Cutting the Labia

Tiffany: What I saw on your website with the filler in the labia was amazing. I always thought surgeons would have to cut it and then stitch it.

Dr. Bawa: I choose not to cut. I can do a labiaplasty, but I choose not to because there are a lot of sensitive nerves in that area.

Dr. Bawa: Forget the clitoris with its 8,000 nerve endings. The labia have a lot of nerves too. When you cut the wrong nerve, you could kill sexual sensation in the area. Then what have you achieved?

Mia: Exactly.

Dr. Bawa: Instead of cutting—and I am absolutely qualified and able to do it—I choose not to because I don't like the risk.

Dr. Bawa: I don't care what the numbers are. I don't care if one in 100 has a problem or one in 1,000 has a problem. You don't want to be the person who has the problem.

Tiffany: Why chance it?

Dr. Bawa: Why chance it?

Tiffany: What could happen?

Dr. Bawa: You could lose sensation. You could have other complications. Why do it when I can give you thickness and plumpness there naturally?

Dr. Bawa: CO2 Laser, PRFM and Hyaluronic Acid

Dr. Bawa: We talked about the CO2 laser before. We can plump it up with that and help build collagen.

Dr. Bawa: Then, when I do the wing lift, I put in PRFM, the stronger version of PRP. That builds collagen too. It takes your growth factors and stimulates your stem cells.

Dr. Bawa: Plus, I add some hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is not alien to your body. Your body makes its own. It just makes less over time.

Mia: Of course it does.

Tiffany: It's in every beauty treatment out there right now.

Dr. Bawa: Remember that hyaluronic acid comes in 10,000 forms. Your doctor needs to know—

Mia: That's the key. Go to doctors, people. Don't go to med spas.

Dr. Bawa: Your doctor needs to know that they have to use the right kind of hyaluronic acid to plump up the labia.

Tiffany: Good-quality stuff.

Dr. Bawa: That's the other thing. Do you know how many people contact me on Instagram every day trying to sell me cheap, bum, fake stuff?

Mia: Oh my God. And God knows what's in that.

Dr. Bawa: Exactly. It's very important to me that I give my patients what I would want put into me. I'm very, very careful about that. Quality matters.

Tiffany: We believe you and trust you.

Dr. Bawa: Thank you.

Dr. Bawa: When you take that PRFM, it immediately starts the rejuvenation process deep inside the labia. It's going to increase collagen. It's going to increase blood vessels. It even forms new blood vessels.

Mia: It sensitizes your nerves.

Dr. Bawa: Absolutely. Then good things just keep happening.

Tiffany: I saw the before-and-after picture of that woman's labia on your website. It literally looked like you took 25 years off. I'm not joking. I'm dead serious.

Dr. Bawa: Absolutely.

Mia: It was life-changing.

Dr. Bawa: You can rejuvenate your labia. You can rejuvenate your clitoris.

Tiffany: We're there, honey. We're recording it all.

Mia: Well, not on video.

Tiffany: Not on video.

Dr. Bawa: We'll take some before-and-afters at your appointment.

[25:39] Hormone Testing and Hormone Mills

Dr. Bawa: You also have to make sure your hormones are right. You have to go to a doctor who is actually checking them properly.

Tiffany: I need that, but I don't know who to trust.

Dr. Bawa: Exactly, because everybody just wants to pump you up.

Mia: All these BioStation-type places and hormone places are like puppy mills.

Tiffany: Can you help us?

Dr. Bawa: I can help you, yes.

Dr. Bawa: Tiffany's Experience With Excessive Testosterone

Tiffany: I went to one of these mills and got the blood test. They said, “Oh, you have low testosterone.”

Tiffany: They gave me this yam-enzyme cream and told me what to do. I was slathering it on the inside of my forearms. Then, when I tested my blood again, my testosterone levels were insanely high.

Dr. Bawa: Was there no way to dose it?

Tiffany: I followed the directions.

Dr. Bawa: There are ways to dose it, but that brings me to my original point. It seems that everybody can do anything nowadays. It's such a travesty.

Dr. Bawa: You go to medical school and residency. You go to a prestigious program and work your ass off to learn real medicine. Then you have patients and years of experience. Meanwhile, any Joe Schmo can open a place, put up a sign and suddenly become a quote-unquote expert in everything.

Mia: I have to blame some of these doctors who front for those places.

Dr. Bawa: Absolutely. I refuse to be the medical director for those places. Do you know how much money I could make as a side gig?

Tiffany: We do. We talked about one in one of our other episodes.

Dr. Bawa: I refuse to do it. I absolutely refuse. It's so bad. It's so wrong.

Tiffany: They told me, “It's just from yams.” But it messed up my hormones and threw them even further out of whack.

Tiffany: Hormones, Blood Clots and Stroke Risk

Dr. Bawa: Do you know that the wrong hormones or excessive hormones can even give you blood clots?

Tiffany: Oh my God. It can kill you, right?

Dr. Bawa: It can kill you.

Mia: That's scary.

Dr. Bawa: Even if they don't kill you, sometimes it's worse to live after a stroke. You wish you were dead.

Tiffany: Exactly.

Dr. Bawa: When that clot goes, it could just as easily go into your brain instead of your lung. You could have a stroke or all kinds of other issues.

Dr. Bawa: This is not a scare tactic. You brought it up, so we're talking about it.

Mia: But as a consumer, they don't tell you that.

Dr. Bawa: No, they don't. How else are they going to slam you for money every month or every three months?

Tiffany: That's so scary.

Tiffany: Hormone Balancing at Bawa Medical

Dr. Bawa: It's very important that you have a good hormonal balance. In my practice, we don't even call it hormone replacement. We call it hormone balancing because I'm trying to create balance.

Mia: Do patients have to go to another doctor to get tested?

Dr. Bawa: No. We do it in our office.

Tiffany: Add another thing to my Christmas list.

Dr. Bawa: We draw the blood right in our office and send it to a lab.

Tiffany: Every Monday, block out time for both of us to come in.

Dr. Bawa: Let's do it, baby.

Mia: Oh my God. We'll bring the Prosecco.

Tiffany: We're so doing it.

Mia: That's all I want for Christmas.

Tiffany: We're going to be so rejuvenated in 2022.

Mia: We're so happy that you're here, dropping your knowledge and spilling the vaginal and sexual tea.

Tiffany: We'll come back on and tell everybody how we're making out with all our treatments.

[28:47] Acoustic Wave Therapy and Blood Flow

Dr. Bawa: Ladies, before we go, did I tell you about acoustic wave therapy?

Tiffany: No, you didn't.

Dr. Bawa: Oh, sister, sister.

Mia: What? Another thing?

Dr. Bawa: Another thing. I'm telling you. I make dreams come true—literally.

Dr. Bawa: What we're doing is using a sound-wave device, not just something you can buy from Amazon. People, don't go to Amazon. Stop buying shit.

Tiffany: Do not do that.

Dr. Bawa: I have a very, very good acoustic-wave-therapy device, and I literally jackhammer your vagina.

Mia: A jackhammer for the vagina.

Dr. Bawa: Another topic for a future podcast.

Tiffany: Oh my God.

Dr. Bawa: I'm ripe with ideas here.

Dr. Bawa: Breaking Down Vascular Blockages

Dr. Bawa: What the device is doing is using sound waves to painlessly help break down blockages in your blood vessels.

Dr. Bawa: Think about heart disease. It goes up with age, right? Why? Because blockages form in your blood vessels.

Dr. Bawa: The blood vessels aren't smart enough to know where they are. It's just like we were talking about with the skin and the labia versus the face. The same idea applies. Blockages are blockages.

Dr. Bawa: Heart disease and the penis or vagina have a connection. When we use acoustic wave therapy in my office and break down those blockages, we're promoting good, healthy blood flow. Oxygenated blood comes rushing into the area.

Dr. Bawa: Now, that sad little clitoris and saggy labia are getting good blood. Does that make sense?

Tiffany: Of course.

Mia: Can the tissue regrow?

Dr. Bawa: It can definitely rejuvenate and increase in size a tiny bit. I don't promise that to my patients, but I've seen it happen to a lot of people.

Dr. Bawa: One of my patients even left me a video on Facebook and talked about how she went home and used Bob, her battery-operated boyfriend.

Tiffany: Oh Lord.

Dr. Bawa: The things my patients teach me. I never knew. I've been living under a rock.

Dr. Bawa: When you take acoustic wave therapy, you can create real change. You can strengthen the pelvic floor to quite an extent.

Dr. Bawa: Increased Sensitivity and Sexual Urges

Mia: Do you feel better? Do you feel more sexual urges?

Dr. Bawa: Yes. Think about it. Now you have tingling in the area. You have blood rushing in. It's not a bad thing. That clitoris wants to go to work for you.

Tiffany: Yes, she does.

Dr. Bawa: Those 8,000 nerve endings are buzzing.

Mia: Wow.

Dr. Bawa: I do the same thing for men. Why do you think I'm Dr. Sex Fairy?

Tiffany: Yes, darling. The rejuvenation queen.

Dr. Bawa: Darling, I am the Vaginator herself. Rejuvenation queen.

Mia: I love it.

Dr. Bawa: Atrophy is a real thing. Hormones need to be balanced. You need good blood flow. We can do all of that, and it is possible for women nowadays. We shouldn't simply accept a shitty sex life.

Tiffany: I love this. This is so empowering.

[31:17] Hormones, Doctors and Advocating for Yourself

Mia: Do you recommend that women start with a blood test to see where their hormone levels are?

Dr. Bawa: I think every gynecologist should be doing it at every woman's annual examination. It's a travesty that they don't.

Tiffany: It's so flipping mad. I ask my patients—well, I figure that if they've had blood tests, you don't need to repeat them. But so few have had them done.

Mia: Is it the doctor or the insurance companies that don't want to pay for it?

Dr. Bawa: I blame the doctors because, as a doctor, I can always justify it to the insurance company.

Tiffany: Wow. Or maybe they don't want to get into providing the solutions.

Dr. Bawa: I think it's a half-assed approach to medicine overall because most patients become a number to their doctors. It's not holistic.

Dr. Bawa: They're room five, room six and room seven. Boom, boom, boom. Let's run through the patients before lunchtime.

Mia: They forget that these are human beings. They have lives, dreams and goals.

Dr. Bawa: This is not right. It's wrong on a very, very deep level.

Mia: So many women over 40 are tired. We have brain fog. We're not living our best lives anymore, and doctors allow us to continue that way.

Dr. Bawa: Most of these doctors don't even know what the hell they're doing. How many of them do you think actually read up on current medicine, state-of-the-art technology and everything else? They're not doing it.

Dr. Bawa: They have ongoing business because women need a Pap smear and mammogram every year. They're running from Pap smear to Pap smear and delivery to delivery.

Tiffany: Check your boobs.

Tiffany: Dr. Bawa's Breast Cancer Experience

Dr. Bawa: May I please mention that they're not always even checking your breasts? My doctor completely missed my breast cancer lump.

Mia: Oh my God.

Dr. Bawa: I pointed out that I had it, and he told me he couldn't feel it. I said, “I really don't care. I need a mammogram.” He argued with me about it—and I'm a doctor.

Dr. Bawa: Three miserable years later, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and ultimately had a mastectomy when it could have been a small lumpectomy.

Tiffany: Oh my God. That is so—

Dr. Bawa: Don't always trust your doctors. I always say, I'm a doctor myself, but doctors suck. Go get a second and a third opinion.

Mia: You said that earlier. Trust your gut.

Dr. Bawa: Trust your gut. I knew, and I kick myself to this day that I didn't go to another doctor. What was I waiting for? I knew there was something wrong. Why was I getting bullied by these people?

Tiffany: But if you, as a doctor, are treated like that, what hope do the rest of us have?

Dr. Bawa: Absolutely. I'm alive not thanks to my doctors, but in spite of them.

Mia: Oh my God. We are glad you're alive.

Dr. Bawa: Thank God for my cancer doctors. My cancer team was superb. But my gynecologic team and the radiologists—man, they sucked.

Tiffany: We are so happy that you are here and thriving.

Mia: I had a bad gynecologic experience myself, which I'll tell you about offline.

Dr. Bawa: Oh my gosh. There is so much, ladies.

[34:00] Closing

Dr. Bawa: What a good conversation this has been.
